چکیده

 Most early work makes more effort to build saliency models on low-level image features based on local contrast. These methods investigate the rarity of image regions with respect to (small) local neighborhoods.  Recent efforts have been made toward global contrast based saliency estimation, where saliency of an image region is evaluated at the global scale with respect to the entire image.  From previous research it is known that producing a correct salient map is sensitive to the size of regions, and a manual fine tuning of the segmentation is a prerequisite for some challenging images.  In summary, it has been observed that most global approaches depend on either regions from image segmentation, or blocks with specified sizes.  While image structures at global scale are usually an important factor for producing salient stimuli, this paper presents a novel approach for saliency modeling( that too manifold based saliency estimation)

Just Noticeable Difference Estimation Using Visual Saliency in Images

Due to some physiological and physical limitations in the brain and the eye, the human visual system (HVS) is unable to perceive some changes in the visual signal whose range is lower than a certain threshold so-called just-noticeable distortion (JND) threshold. Visual attention (VA) provides a mechanism for selection of particular aspects of a visual scene so as to reduce the computational loa...

A Model for Automatic Diagnostic of Road Signs Saliency

Road signs, the main communication media towards the drivers, play a significant role in road safety and traffic control through drivers‟ guidance, warning, and information. However, not all traffic signs are seen by all drivers, which sometimes lead to dangerous situations. In order to manage safer roads, the estimation of the legibility of the road environment is thus of importance for road e...

Visual saliency estimation by integrating features using multiple kernel learning

In the last few decades, significant achievements have been attained in predicting where humans look at images through different computational models. However, how to determine contributions of different visual features to overall saliency still remains an open problem. To overcome this issue, a recent class of models formulates saliency estimation as a supervised learning problem and according...

Exploring to learn visual saliency: The RL-IAC approach

The problem of object localization and recognition on autonomous mobile robots is still an active topic. In this context, we tackle the problem of learning a model of visual saliency directly on a robot. This model, learned and improved on-the-fly during the robot’s exploration provides an efficient tool for localizing relevant objects within their environment. The proposed approach includes tw...

Compressed-Sampling-Based Image Saliency Detection in the Wavelet Domain

When watching natural scenes, an overwhelming amount of information is delivered to the Human Visual System (HVS). The optic nerve is estimated to receive around 108 bits of information a second. This large amount of information can’t be processed right away through our neural system. Visual attention mechanism enables HVS to spend neural resources efficiently, only on the selected parts of the...
